Oregon came out ready and jumped to a 13 – 0 first quarter lead. The Ute defense didn’t know what hit them.

Utah’s offense finally answered in the second quarter but could only match Oregen’s scores.

At the start of the third quarter,  the Beaver defense added a score. Victor Bolden intercepted Travis Wilson and returned it 27 yards for six. The game looked to be over. Oregon St. Held a commanding 27 – 10 lead.

But Utah’s offense didn’t give up. They took over, outscoring the Beavers 21 – 11 in the fourth quarter to take the game to over time.

In the end, Utah defense utterly failed. With four minutes to go just after their offensive took a one point lead, they gave up the unforgivable 15 yard penalty with the game on the line. Worse they gave up another touchdown. The Ute defense also failed to stop a two point conversion.

Travis Wilson somehow lead his team to a game tying drive. Running in for the touchdown himself.

Oregon State’s defense forced a three and out. Utah’s Andy Phillips hit the 41 yard field under immense pressure.

Again the Ute defense couldn’t make a stop when it mattered and gave up six.

If Utah can tighten their defense, their offense will be a PAC 12 threat this year.

Football matters in Utah.
