I strive to write the perfect words to praise
The woman that I think of every hour,
But with my words I cannot find the phrase
To speak grand words with all of Petrarch’s power

Yet beauty you possess despite weak words
That spill from failing fingers to this page;
I could compare you to nature’s flowers or birds,
But neither shares your beauty in this age;

With skin that’s marked by Him and angels, too,
Even your lip is marked for me to kiss,
With eyes that capture mine in magic blue,
And hair that matches autumns mystic bliss,

You captivate my mind, my heart, my life
And leave me hoping you will be my wife.
