Alone in darkness weakened by the night
A pit I dig to trap my foolish self.
Success! I’m trapped and hidden from the light,
From eyes that dwell above earths solid shelf.
As stone I sit immobile, empty, bleak;
Not dead yet frozen by inertia’s power
I should escape but will is broken, weak.
I cringe and cuddle as a shriveled flower.
With spirit absent flesh has all control.
Emotions gone, I pass a carnal night.
Forgotten truth, I Him abandon full
And even stars are lost, I have no light.
But Morning comes and lifts me from the deep
With His escape, I rise, I run, I leap.
