The buckling knees were caused by pressured mind
Her body strong, but mind was overcome
A moment’s peace she sought but could not find
A moment’s sleep, her eyes they beg for some.
A fountain’s source of water has gone dry
Its strength escaped as vapor under sun
A soul so weak it has not tears to cry
Emotions stumble as they try to run
Though free, she makes herself a slave
With night’s approach, exhaustion creeps inside
A foe so great, that only sleep can save
In dreams alone her weakness can confide
The time she gives me whispers so I hear
Her heart’s emotions want me to be near.
